Simon has recently returned from a three-month expedition to Antarctica documenting conservation work on Mawson's Huts at Cape Denison, the most remote field camp in Australian Antarctic Territory.
The program, spearheaded by the Mawson's Huts Foundation, involves critical conservation work aimed at saving the historic huts, Australia's only heritage-listed link to the heroic age of Antarctic exploration.
Simon was one of six team members who sailed south from Hobart in October, on a nine-day voyage across the Southern Ocean to Cape Denison. The team was tasked with overcladding the roof of the Main Base, established by pioneering explorer and scientist Douglas Mawson, in 1912.
